Title: Shooters

Author: Charlie B.

Publisher: Literary Couture

Summary: She was born and breed for a life in the streets. Being the daughter of an infamous drug cartel, the niece of a dealer and the girlfriend of a self-proclaimed street hustler, Jaysin Santana had little choice of what her future held.

Baring the burden of the Santana name became the least of her worries when her aunt was incarcerated on erroneous charges. It wasn’t enough that her father had been locked up for most of her life and her estranged mother had found a new best friend in her family’s number one distribution but she also had to worry about a new interest who instantly found her compelling, not knowing who she really was.

Jaysin wasn’t the typical sixteen year old. She lived the life her aunt begged her not to but had become addicted to the fast money and illicit lifestyle. She thought she was prepared for what the streets had to offer but when she no longer knew who to trust, who to love and who to steer clear from, the smoke and mirrors that was once her calling may have cost her, her life. the real world may not be so real after all.

Review:

A female BOSS.

Let me first start by being completely honest: at first I thought to myself that this would be another typical "drug lord" story about the rise and fall of a well-known name and family. Especially, after learning the last name of the character was Santana.

I did not put the book down once I started reading. Charlie B. switched so many things in the book taking away anything "typical" about the streets. The character spoke Spanish throughout the entire novel and I enjoyed that because it gave it both culture and diversity. She didn't make the main character a flashy, greedy drug dealer. Hell, she rode the bus proudly! It made it that much more real, because that's what you see in the hood. Not the characters that some authors like to conjure up about what they "know" about the hood and the people who live there.

I love the fact that the big bosses of the book were all female characters. By the time I reached the climax of the story, my heart was beating out of my chest. I was very upset when it was over because I had so many questions. I wanted so much more. Charlie B. definitely will make you eager with this one and you'll be looking for more! You will love every character. AMAZING BOOK!

There were editing and formatting issues, but it was a great story. I hope there is a part two. I'd recommend it to other readers.
